Service providers and enterprises are being offered a new wireless broadband solution that can be co-located within existing Motorola PMP networks. The firm said the new Motorola PMP 320 (PDF) will allow network operators and service providers to keep infrastructure costs down.

According to Motorola the PMP 320 is designed to provide reliable and secure residential access, plus cost effective enterprise connectivity.

The solution is available on frequency ranges 3.3GHz-3.4GHz, 3.4GHz-3.6GHz and 3.6GHz-3.8GHz to allow customers to use existing licences for fixed wireless broadband connectivity.

The all-outdoor integrated radio and standards-based server does not require special gateways, routers or servers, which will enable a quick and simple installation that is fast and costs less.

Tony Cecchin, senior director of global product operations for Motorola, explained that the solution would let network operators protect existing infrastructure investments while allowing them to extend services to different areas or offer new services to customers. “PMP wireless broadband connectivity technologies continue to deliver innovative solutions that help businesses grow,” he added.

The PMP 320 supports standard WiMax quality of service profiles, is interoperable with WiMax 802.16e CPEs, and uses AAA/RADIUS servers for authentication.
