Motorists warned to be vigilant

A warning from uSwitch advises motorists to stay on the lookout for carjackers when they de-ice their vehicles.
They estimate that as many as 42 per cent of motorists will keep their car running while they are waiting for the ice to clear off their windscreen, leaving the vehicles at risk of ‘frost-jacking’.
Many people start their vehicle and go indoors while waiting for their car to de-ice, which leaves them in a vulnerable position should someone choose to take their vehicle, despite 16 per cent of people admitting that they are concerned about the safety of their vehicle when it is left unattended with the engine running.
Insurance expert at uSwitch.com said: “Insurers are likely to take a dim view on a claimant who has left themselves vulnerable to crime in this way.”
Having their car stolen might not be the only thing worrying drivers lately. The price comparison site has noted that the roads have been damaged by the bad weather seen this winter, which is making driving conditions difficult.
