Higher Gas and Electricity Bills Could Be Due to Inefficient Appliances -Energy Prices News
According to new research, household appliances with the energy efficient label might not be up to the standards claimed by the manufacturers.
Employing easy energy-saving measures could save households hundreds of pounds every year, so the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs tested some of these household appliances to prove the energy efficient claims on the label.
Ovens performed best with 23 out of 24 reaching the energy efficient claims on the label. Washers and dryers were the worst and 16 out of 24 tested failed to reach the standard on the label.
Dan Norris, Environment Minister stated that people need to be confident energy efficient appliances will live up to those standards. They want to be ensured that the product will use less energy and reduce their carbon footprint and their fuel bill.
Consumer groups also recommend people compare gas and electricity prices from various energy suppliers to find cheaper gas and electricity.
