Cars are Stolen More Often Than Motorhomes
Motorhomes are not likely to be stolen in the UK. This finding should reassure motorhome insurance customers. The vehicles at most threat from criminals are 4×4s and compact executive-type vehicles, which account for one-fourth of all thefts. Roadsters and small family cars are also a favorite of thieves.
According to Nicola Johnson, service manager at HPI, it is not just prestigious fast cars, but everyday smaller cars that are making money for criminals. She stated, “The age of the vehicle seems to be a big factor in the cars stolen, with criminals mainly targeting vehicles that are between four and eight years of age. It’s this age of vehicle that can be sold relatively easily and usually for cash, making it even easier for criminals to make a quick buck.”
According to Virgin Money, more motor insurance claims are made on December 19th than any other day of the year.
