Advice to help avoid water damage due to cold weather
Insurance UK has advice for their customers to help reduce the chances of homes being damaged by water system problems.
They advised their customers to make sure they have a plan in place Fortis in case water should escape and recommended that they regularly inspect their property’s plumbing to ensure ducts and tanks are properly insulated and recommended also that they keep the heating on when they go out so that pipes do not freeze in this cold weather we are having.
Fortis offered these tips because household insurance claims have risen admit this recent severe weather and they noted that the largest amount of claims have been due to escaping water, findings similar to those of M&S Home Insurance for the 2009 winter months.
Gary Lobb, the head of operations at the Fortis household and travel claims division commented: “The more households and businesses we can all help to avoid an escape of water, the better it will be for our customers and the costs of insurance in the future.”
